About the Exhibition:

Galerie Sara Lily Perez is pleased to present Defragmenting Eden, a group exhibition featuring works by Tanja Selzer, Laura Eckert, and Daniel Sambo-Richter. This exhibition reconceives the mythical Garden of Eden as a fractured, reassembled landscape, a place where sensuality, vulnerability, and catastrophe intertwine.

Through painting and sculpture, the participating artists interrogate how fragments of desire, body, and nature come together to form new orders of meaning. Together, their works reveal Eden not as an intact myth, but as an unstable, evolving field of human longing and natural transformation. Defragmentation here implies both rupture and renewal, disintegration and reordering, a metaphor for the human condition itself.

About the Artists:

Tanja Selzer (b. 1970, Idar-Oberstein, Germany) is a Berlin-based painter. A graduate of the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, she is known for her figurative paintings that explore eroticism, voyeurism, and the gaze. Her works are held in public and private collections including SØR Rusche, Museum am Dom Würzburg, and HSH Nordbank.

Laura Eckert (b. 1983, Trier, Germany) lives and works in Leipzig. Her practice focuses on large-scale wooden sculptures and portrait heads, often made from recycled timber. By layering and reassembling fragments of wood, she explores memory, impermanence, and the vulnerability of the human figure. Her work has been exhibited at Galerie Schloss Parz and Galerie Schmalfuss, among others.

Daniel Sambo-Richter (b. 1966, Görlitz, Germany) is a Berlin-based painter recognized for his monumental canvases dealing with natural catastrophes, political allegories, and existential themes. His work has been shown internationally in Germany, the USA, Poland, and Denmark. Most recently, he presented the solo exhibition Icons (2025) at Redbud Arts Center, Houston.
